Child Support & Family Court

Family court matters — child support enforcement, contempt proceedings, custody-adjacent financial obligations — are among the most emotionally charged situations Equity students face. They are also among the most successfully resolved through the process.

One student faced contempt charges in family court with active wage garnishments. Through Equity and private coaching, the contempt charges were discharged, the garnishments were lifted, and the money that had already been taken was returned. They did not believe that was possible going into the process.

Another student had wages garnished for child support while already sending the money privately to their family. Equity discharged the garnishment. This result held even in Louisiana — a civil law jurisdiction, not common law — demonstrating that Equity's principles apply across different legal systems.
